El Burro Loco – Best Meal on Mt. Hood

A Favorite Stop on Mt. Hood

It could be said that after 7 hours of hiking and exploring the Ramona Falls area, any hot meal would taste phenomenal. However, I truly think I had my 2nd best Mexican meal ever at El Burro Loco in Welches after that hike several years ago.  Fun atmosphere, awesome food and it’s a lot more convenient than my #1 Mexican restaurant, Red Mesa, in Florida!  Brian and I don’t miss a chance to stop at El Burro Loco whenever we are on or near Mt. Hood. Most recently we took the kids sledding at White River and somehow perfectly timed it so that we just had to stop in for dinner. We happily dined on yet another great meal paired with a couple of on-tap and excellent microbrews.

I always order the slow-roasted pork enchiladas in green sauce. They’ve got a nice kick so stay away if you are spice-challenged but the flavor is fantastico to me. Brian tried the house special pork mole enchiladas.  Kind of a tex mex BBQ flavor. Not a bite left, and believe me, I was looking for one! The salsa is always super (we often go through 3 batches). My kiddos go for the shredded beef tacos and taquitos. I rarely get more than small taste of those as well.  Brian once declared them the best tacos he’d ever had.
